Renntag Racing 2009 season wrap up.

Renntag Racing was a force to be reckoned with early in 2009. Not only on track but also in lead roles with driving school www.TrackDaze.com, and www.SummitPointKart.com. Impressive performances started with grabbing pole positions and winning each of the first 4 races of the season, it was looking like a championship season was unfolding. With teammates Jon and Stefan moving to California for a career change and school, it was up to Colin and Matt to keep the effort alive.

The first two races at VIR were a huge success for the team. The next two events brought them home to Summit Point Raceway, one of the most challenging stops of the season. The home track advantage helped only enough to work past handling issues plaguing both cars. Various changes in set up were made prior to each session in an effort to find a solution. Things got worse before they got better. Struggling with an 'over' loose car, Colin managed a pair of second place spots and Matt was well in the top 10.

The second home race in June is also host to Hyperfest at Summit Point. This is the biggest event of the season drawing drivers from neighboring regions and fans from out of the woodwork. With drifting, roll over contests, and opportunities to ride along with trained pros, this event is not to be missed. For 2009, Colin was also working with Jens Scott to launch www.SummitPointKart.com, a concession karting operation based at Summit Point Raceway. This would prove to be a large undertaking and make for a challenging weekend with focus on 2 tracks.

The team again pulled off an impressive weekend, despite Colin's attention being diverted to the SPK launch. The hard work and dedication of the Renntag Racing crew made all the difference in the world. Thanks go out to Victoria DuCrest, TJ Huston (now with RP Performance), and Will Feltner of BSR. Having the #81 Mustang ready to go for each session enabled Colin to pull off another pair of podium finishes, while still battling lingering handling gremlins.

Getting the new venture of SPK off the ground and helping further develop TrackDaze would consume most of Colin's time the remainder of the season. Matt carried the torch and represented the Team at the final VIR event. Colin was present at all the remaining Summit events to coach and offer technical support.

The team finished the season well despite lost time and challenges. Colin finished just off the podium in CMC and Matt also had a respectable showing for the team.
